The Details:
A couple of posts back when i was getting my natural hair goddess braid on, I wore MAC’s Yung Rapunzel lipstick in the photos. People I encountered that day inquired about the color. It was MAC’s Azaelia Banks’ limited edition smokey purple. A color very similar to it is Revlon’s Va Va Violet which I have been using for years. They’re so similar in color, you can get just one of them without really missing the other.
The Swatches:
My swatch above shows that the undertones in each color are slightly different. Va Va Violet has a red undertone and Yung Rapunzel has a blue undertone. Both lipsticks require several swipes over the lips to get a slightly more opaque color. The real difference in these lipsticks besides the undertones is the experience the user has with these lipsticks. While Va Va Violet doesn’t have a scent at all to me, Yung Rapunzel smells distinctly like a MAC lipstick (all MAC products have a distinct smell). Also YR is so creamy and moisturizing. I love putting it on my lips because it feels like they are being conditioned as well.
Overall Rating:
Overall I’d rate both colors 8/10 Blushes. I simply love the color. Perfect for fall. The reason i’d give it an 8/10 versus a 10/10 is just due to the fact that it’s not opaque with just one swipe. It takes time to build it up.

Love the purple lipstick trend on you!
