Hello Lovelies!
I wanted to update you guys on what I’ve been doing since my traumatic skin infection on my lower right cheek. To use the word traumatic might seem a tad melodramatic but I really feel that between the infection, and the weather change, my skin has been through a lot. I think I may have tried to dry the infection out too much. Now that the area has healed, I want to try to restore my skin by keeping it clear and bringing back radiance. In terms of the clearness, I have decided to start using the prescribed medicine again regularly to try to get the acne under control. As for the radiance I’ve decided to try out Grand Central Beauty’s S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting Mask. Now GCB is no stranger to my blog as I’ve mentioned it here and here but I thought it would be a great time to review it personally especially since I’m trying to restore my skin.
In the sample kit I received you get the active mask powder, the intensive booster and a mixing scalpel. The container can even be used to mix the mask. How amazing is that?

It also comes handy with instructions on how to mix your treatment. The biggest tip I can recommend is to really mix it well so that you have no lumps. If it’s not mixed properly, you’ll get a hybrid clay/rubber mask which I got (watch my 35 second video to see what I mean).

Above is the order in which I mixed the mask. I should have followed instructions but seeing that I saw the mask applied several times, I just knew I had it under control. I think mine came out not as smooth because I mixed the intensive booster after adding water. In GCB’s YouTube tutorial, they mix the active powder and intensive booster first:
I think GCB’s S.M.A.R.T. mask is great for someone with acne prone/broken skin for the following reasons:
- For example, with something infectious as Tinea faciei, this mask is ideal because you can simply lift it off your face after it has fully dried or rubberized (provided you mix it fully). With other clay masks you really have to scrub it off your face which can sometimes cause more irritation.
- It doesn’t upset sensitive skin which I have.
- This masks boasts it’s ability to soothe and moisturize which is what I was looking for especially since I equate moisturized skin with radiant skin. The mask feels “cool” as soon as you put it on which gives the soothing effect also.
- It’s designed so that each treatment requires mixing right before and you get enough for one at a time. Basically, you are not mixing it and then storing it for however long, which could encourage microbial growth.

I can notice a difference in the video! I wish I had another sample to give my skin a good boost because it’s been feeling so dry lately

Hi LOL Beauty! What a fantastic and thorough review!
Based on my experience, I’d recommend you remove the mask after 15 minutes. Don’t wait too long or it’s not as “fun” to remove. Also, taking the mask off at 15 minutes and not waiting too long will give you more moisturizing results, since that is what you are looking for.
Thanks again!
